Kara,

It's generally not disruptive, you need to make sure the system has
been added to the command console, some of your Alphas are not in there
because of the disk controllers (for instance, you'll need to know the
config password on the HSZ22a in Plainfield to add disks to Taurus and
Ferarri. or you'll have to make/buy the serial cable for the HSZ22 that
is shared between Taurus and Ferrari to reset the password. The default
password to get to this screen is ) You can't add disk to Bugatti or
Porsche from it either because the raid controllers are configured for
stand alone maintenance. You need to either install the Storageworks
agent on those hosts, restart it if it's already there, or halt the
system and from the halt prompt execute "run bios pza0" then "run bios
pzb0" to get each side of the mirrorsets on that machine updated. The
bios is pretty self explanatory. Unless you're going to jack your
laptop into the serial port on the ES40, you'll need to make sure the
console variable is set to graphics or your'll never see this command
line bios utility come up. Hope this helps, but if not here's a useful
link to the Compaq documentation (better than HPs) that might shed some
light:

I need to add new disks to an Aplha TRU64 server via the Storageworks Command Console. Can anyone tell me how to do this, is this disruptive to the system - outage, and how long this generally takes? The disks have been added and I need to get the server to recognize them.
