/dev/md0? What does freebsd fdisk say about the disk that you will
install to, ad0 (or ad1 or da0 or one of those devices)? |

trying to set up multiboot system with W2k, Linux and FreeBSD

Hi *,
I had a Windows 2k FAT32 installation which I halved using
knoppix/parted.
In the rest of the disk I made space for a Linux partition and a
FreeBSD one using Linux/Debian/fdisk. I want to then multiboot all
three OSs using grub
Linux I could easily install using debootstrap, then I made the last
(dedicated to FreeBSD) partition active and tried to install FreeBSD
6.0 there, but FreeBSD's fdisk is showing me a disk information that
does not look like what I have. So I stopped, because I didn't want to
lose my data.
I thought all I would see was the space of the partition set active,
but FreeBSD is actually seeing all hd space its way. I must not destroy
the previous partitions/installations.
I know fdisk is different in all OSs that use it, Linux fdisk 'thinks'
in terms of cylinders/partitions while FreeBSD's in sectors/slices. Do
you know of any good info that would let me understand the different
fdisk idiosyncrasies and how they map to hds internals (at least IDE
ones)?
Thanks
otf
