Hi,


theeasiest way is to boot the O2 in maintance mode with an upgrade CD.
This creates a miniroot filesystem in the swap system (be careful, you
can damage the file system comletely). As a miniroot superuser, you are
able to access the /etc/passwd file on your root system. Edit it with
the vi editor for example. Delete the root passwort. savely exit the
miniroot application. After rebooting the O2, you can access the root
account without password.

There are other ways, but I think the one described above is the most
convinient way.

Hi,

I have an SGI O2 with IRIX OS on it. I do not have the root password
and without it I can't do much with my box.

If anyone knows how to reset the password, please HELP.
